Rent Johnny Depp's Personal Pirate-Themed Ship!

Johnny Depp brought his most famous role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the “Pirates of the Caribbean franchise into real life when he bought a 156-foot luxury yacht and outfitted it with pirate-themed jewel-toned velvet (Captain Sparrow’s signature fabric) and a Jolly Roger flag.

In the past two years, Depp and his family have spent a lot of time on the boat, taking it to ports in Italy, Florida, and even Annapolis, Maryland. But it turns out you don’t have to play a pirate on the big screen in order to take a ride on the giant seafaring vessel. You just have to have tons of cash: Burgess Yachts rents the Depp yacht for €98,000 (approximately $130,000) per week in the high season and €84,000 (approximately $110,000) in the low season. The Depp family is not included in the price of the rental.

Depp named the yacht “Vajoliroja” — a combination of the first letters of the names of his family: Longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis, (“Va”), himself (“Jo”), his 10-year-old daughter Lily Rose (“LiRo”) and 8-year-old son, Jack (“Ja”.)

Despite the awkward spelling (first Eyjafjallajokull, now this?) the name is meant to sound similar to “The Jolly Roger” when pronounced. Over the years, paparazzi and regular fans alike have captured shots of the steam-powered boat, which sleeps 11 guests and 8 crew members, in ports around the world. But new, just-released photos bring the closest look at the boat’s lush interior.

Depp often takes the Vajoliroja on trips to his private island in the Bahamas, Little Hall’s Pond Cay. Last summer, the actor set sail with Vanity Fair editor Douglas Brinkley, along with three of Depp’s best friends, for a trip to the island. (Little is known to the layman landlubber about Little Hall’s Pond Cay, but Brinkley reported that the island features six beaches, including one named “Brando” after Depp’s mentor Marlon Brando, and a snorkeling spot named “Heath’s Place” after the late actor Heath Ledger.)

In the unlikely scenario that guests get bored just hanging out on a movie star’s pirate-themed boat, the ship provides plenty of entertainment, including two speed boats, as well as wakeboards, kayaks, water skis, and wind surfing equipment.
