After being accused of plagiarism by a Belgian choreographer due to dance moves featured in her recently released “Countdown” video, Beyoncé issued a statement saying her video was indeed “inspired” by said work of said Belgian choreographer. Note: inspired does not mean “copied.”

Despite that admission, Bey also said that her video was also inspired by other influences and pointed out that the two million views that her video has enjoyed could incite and create interest in the source material that is Rosas danst Rosas or Rosas dances Rosas.

According to The Associated Press, choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker directly accused Beyoncé of stealing routines for her “Countdown,” calling it “pure plagiarism.”

Bey’s statement read as follows: “Clearly, the ballet Rosas danst Rosas was one of many references for my video, ‘Countdown.’ It was one of the inspirations used to bring the feel and look of the song to life. I was also paying tribute to the film, Funny Face, with the legendary Audrey Hepburn. My biggest inspirations were the ’60s, the ’70s, Brigitte Bardot, Andy Warhol, Twiggy and Diana Ross.” We can see that.
