Epic Records chairman and CEO (and X Factor judge) L.A. Reid has taken to Twitter to reveal that the long-awaited follow up to Fiona Apple’s 2005 album Extraordinary Machine will drop in 2012. Yeah, okay, we aren’t holding our breath. We heard a new Apple album was due in 2011, and those plans obviously never materialized, so, we’re a bit skeptical and cynical, even though we love L.A. Reid.

Reid tweeted: “Lots of good music coming from @Epic_Records in the next few weeks. Stay tuned music fans. Welcome back Fiona!” She supposedly recorded the album a bit ago, too!

Again, our hopes are up and we hate having them dashed, so don’t be lying to us or playing with our emotions, L.A.
